Bike Ride – Loch Katrine
May 2005 |
Another successful year at Loch Katrine
with over 30 pupils participating. A grateful ‘thank you’ to all the
parents who helped out and also took part.
As at 22nd May £344 has been raised
from the 7 pupils that had successfully got their sponsorship money back
to Robert (who really should be checking to see if any more money has
been returned!). Notwithstanding the previous comment please pass all
raised sponsorship to any PA member as soon as possible.

Santa in his sleigh!What
a fantastic result we had from
this year’s Santa’s Grotto – The total amount taken on the

£3,096.36! On behalf of the Parent’s Association, a big THANK YOU
to everyone who contributed in some way, shape or form – helping before
the day, helping on the day, contributions and donations received – it
was a magnificent effort shown by all and we really appreciate the
support we received.

In House Production –
Beauty & The Beast
October 2005 |
By all accounts, this was a roaring
success (no pun intended) with great feedback coming from the children.
Some quotes received via the Pupil Council were as follows:-
“On the 20th October 2005 a theatre
group came and gave us a wonderful show of Beauty and the Beast. The PA
paid £300 for it and it was a great success. There were 5 actors and
about 9 parts. All in all it was really great! They didn’t even use
all the old Beauty and the Beast songs, they used all the up to date
songs like Amarillo and Crazy Frog. If you pass anyone in the street
that is in the PA, please say thank-you. (Reported by Georgia)

“Outrageously funny, a brilliant
production” said Stephan and Robert – P6/7.
“Really, really, really good”, said
Rory P1

“We would like to say a big THANK
YOU to all of the parents association for paying for us to see it, it
was definitely worth it. Thank You!” by Sean & Michael |

St.Mary’s are awash
with Water!
|
St Mary’s Episcopal Primary school in
Dunblane is certainly promoting a healthy drinking lifestyle. This year,
not one but two Companies have sponsored their annual Sports Day by
donating a bottle of water for each pupil in the school. Stirling-based
GMJV, a subsidiary of Scottish Water Solutions along with water bottling
giants Highland Spring of Blackford both agreed to help flood out the
day for each of the 82 pupils. Head Teacher, Mary Paterson, said “A
bottle of water is so much easier to carry and avoids the problem with
additives contained in a lot of fizzy drinks – we want our pupils to be
aware that drinking lots of water is very good for you. We are very
grateful to GMJV and Highland Spring for their generous donation and to
our PA for securing this for us”.
GMJV is a delivery company for Scottish
Water Solutions, upgrading water and wastewater infrastructure across
Scotland. GMJV Procurement Manager Colin Wells said: Water is a major
natural Scottish resource and we are delighted to help the young
athletes at St Mary’s to include water as part of their healthy
lifestyle.”

Likhubula Link
|
St Mary’s Episcopal Primary School pupil,
Jonathan Smith, is off on a trip of a lifetime as part of a delegation
from Dunblane to visit Likhubula in South Eastern Malawi. Jonathan
from P7, accompanied by his mother Brigitte, will leave Scotland on
Sunday 12 June 2005 for a two week visit to find out about the needs of
the community there and to build contacts that will allow a genuine
partnership between Dunblane and Likhubula. Initiated by Dunblane
Cathedral, the project envisages to branch out into the wider community
of Dunblane with Jonathan being the delegate from the young people who
have been involved in the Likhubula Link for over a year now. The
Parents Association at St Mary’s were delighted to give £100 towards
Jonathan’s trip and the school eagerly awaits an update on his findings
when he returns before starting Dunblane High School in August.
